Markets: Nordic heat-pump markets
In Sweden, heat pump sales reached a record 48 806 in 2003. Until now, single-family homes were the main niche, but growth is expected to shift to apartment buildings. Source: Swedish Heat Pump Association, Martin Forsén, Tel: +46 8 762 75 Norway had record sales of 55 000 units in 2003 (more than double the 2002 sales level of 21 300 units). Outside split units dominate the market and Japanese manufacturers' high-efficiency inverter R-410A models have secured a large share of the market, but competition from Chinese models is increasing. The Swedish firms IVT, Thermia and Nibe dominate the ground-source heat pump market.
