Nanoe ™ X technology could inhibit COVID19 in air conditioners
Panasonic has developed an ionizer that inhibits certain pathogenic microorganisms (including viruses). Recent tests seem to demonstrate its effectiveness on COVID-19.
Since 1997, Panasonic has been developing the nanoe™ X technology. This is an ionizer that generates “nano-sized atomized water particles”.
this electrostatic atomization technology collects water vapour from the air and applies a high voltage to it to produce hydroxyl radicals (OH). The determining factor for inhibition is the existence of hydroxyl radicals inside nanoe™ X particles. Hydroxyl radicals are characterized by their high oxidizing power and high reactivity.
This technology inhibits certain pathogenic microorganism, including viruses.
Some tests have been conducted by Texcell, a global viral research organisation with roots within the Pasteur Institute of Paris, to evaluate the benefits of nanoe ™ X on the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2). Texcell
The test has been conducted in a 45L test space. A piece of gauze saturated with SARS-CoV-2 virus solution was placed in a Petri dish and exposed to nanoeTM X for a predetermined time. The virus infectious titer was measured and used to calculate the inhibition rate.
Under these conditions, more than 99.99% of SARS-CoV-2 activity was inhibited within two hours.
However, these conditions are not comparable to the actual conditions of virus circulation.
Panasonic recently announced the inclusion of nanoeTM X generators in its PACi and VRF ranges of air conditioners.
