The IIR is deeply saddened to learn that Professor Eric Granryd died on March 30, 2022 at the age of 88.

The IIR is deeply saddened to learn that Professor Eric Granryd died on March 30, 2022 at the age of 88.

He served as Professor in the Department of Energy Technology at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden, from 1984 until 1999. He was a renowned scientist highly regarded in the worldwide refrigeration community for his numerous publications, particularly in the field of heat pumps.

He was awarded the prestigious Peter Ritter von Rittinger International Heat Pump Award in 2008.

Prof. Eric Granryd was very active in the IIR and highly regarded for his dedication and kindness.

He has been IIR Delegate of Sweden, President of the IIR Executive Committee and President of the IIR General Conference.

He was appointed Honorary President of the IIR General Conference in 2007 and was also awarded the IIR Medal of Merit at the IIR International Congress of Refrigeration in Prague in 2011.
