The International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR) will hold five workshops at COP28 in the United Arab Emirates from November 30 to December 12, highlighting innovative refrigeration solutions for a sustainable future.

The growing need for air conditioning in many countries must be sustainable. The IIR will explore responsible use and improved technologies to ensure this expansion is environmentally friendly.

 

  • Sustainable Refrigeration Practices in Health Systems view

The IIR will address the need for a sustainable cold chain in developing countries for healthcare products, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve the energy efficiency of medical cooling systems.

In view of the rapid expansion of the refrigeration sector, the IIR will be stressing the importance of raising young people's awareness of this industry, with a view to ensuring a qualified next generation for a sustainable future.

The IIR will unveil the "3 Degrees" report, exploring the possibility of raising the standard temperature of frozen foods, from -18°C to -15°C, offering energy efficiency gains without compromising food safety - a crucial step towards a more sustainable cold chain.
