IIR figures on food cold chain emissions presented at SIFA On November 9, 2022, the IIR was invited by SIFA, France’s largest exhibition on refrigeration technologies and applications, to take part in a workshop dedicated to technologies and methods to reduce the carbon footprint of refrigeration energy consuming sectors. Dr. Yosr Allouche from the IIR presented figures on GHG emissions from the global and regional food cold chain. These figures are one of the main highlights of the 7th IIR Informatory Note on Refrigeration and Food “The Carbon Footprint of the Cold Chain”. The workshop was also an interesting opportunity to cross knowledge with different stakeholders and promote the European project ENOUGH by showing the project contribution to the EU Farm to Fork strategy aiming at achieving carbon neutrality of the food sector by 2050. It should also be reminded that the IIR is involved in the ENOUGH project, as the leader of two work packages: dissemination and the emissions database and future predictions of the food sector.
