Refrigerant Fraud

Fake cylinders of HFCs such as R-134a, R-407C, R-410A, etc. have been found in parts of Europe in Germany, Poland and Greece, but not so far the UK. Samples taken from a cylinder labelled R-134a were analysed by refrigerant producer Honeywell and found to contain a mixture of R-22 and R-12 but only 3% R-134a. Consumers should be alerted to such fakes which are believed to originate in China, due to the low cost - priced at least one third of the original price, and equipped with poor quality fittings.
