St. Kitts and Nevis joins global effort against climate change as 165th country to ratify the Kigali Amendment

This August, St. Kitts and Nevis ratified the Kigali Amendment which will enter into force in November 2025.

On August 29, 2025, St. Kitts and Nevis ratified the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol. The Amendment shall enter into force for St. Kitts and Nevis on 27 November 2025.

 

As a party to Group 1 of Article 5 of the Kigali Amendment, St. Kitts and Nevis is required to freeze HFC production starting on 2024 and reduce its HFC consumption by 80% by 2045, compared to its average HFC consumption from 2020 to 2022. St. Kitts and Nevis is also required to reduce its HCFC consumption by 65% compared to its baseline average consumption in 2009 and 2010.
