Watch our side event at COP27

COP27 will mark the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

The IIR, the international voice of refrigeration!

Scheduled to take place in Sharm el-Sheikh (Egypt) on November 6 – 18, 2022, COP27 will mark the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

As always, the Conference of Parties (COP) is a hallmark event which brings countries together to present the status of, and renegotiate their national commitments in line with sustainable developments goals.

In 2015, the world came together and showed the will to make the necessary compromises which led to the successful adoption of the Paris Agreement. Today, and in light of the recent IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) reports, rapid action is vital to meet the desired 1.5-degree goal.

A key matter in the battle against climate change, the side event will focus on clean heating and cooling opportunities in buildings and food chains and how these can align climate policy with development goals. Experts from the IIR, ACES, RD&T, RAP, DENA Germany and governments representatives will dive into these frontier challenges, exploring policy, technology and models to be implemented.

Reaffirming its commitment to, and confirming its crucial role in the global climate agenda, not only will the IIR have several representatives present at this meeting, but it will also have a booth (N°37) during the second week of this conference which is set to welcome political leaders and prominent environmental activists from across the globe.

Didier Coulomb, Director General of the IIR, will deliver a speech during the high-level segment of this conference ensuring that the voice of refrigeration is heard.
