The IIR worldwide

Focus on the latest IIR interventions around the world.

In April, the IIR was present at different events around the world:


  • LNG 2019 (Shanghai, China)


The conference LNG 2019 took place in Shanghai, China, on April 1-5 2019. It is confirmed that this series of conferences and exhibitions coorganised by the IIR, the International Gas Union and the Gas Technology Institute every three years is by far the biggest event on LNG in the world. All the presidents and directors from some of the biggest worldwide companies working in LNG presented strategies and challenges in the industry. Technical sessions were also organised in parallel with the exhibition gathering more than 10,000 visitors. The next one will take place on April 4-8 2022 in Saint-Petersburg, Russia. Changes to the organisation of the conference programme are forecast in order to better address the latest information technologies and research.


  • Side event on the cold chain (Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso)


On April 5th 2019, the IIR organised a side event on the Cold Chain in Burkina Faso during the SEERA (Semaine des Énergie et Énergie Renouvelables d’Afrique) on April 4-6 in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso). Organised by the National Chamber of Agriculture (CNA) of Burkina Faso and the 2ie Foundation, the IIR took the opportunity during the side event to present the IIR's services, as well as the results of a general survey which was submitted to the various stakeholders on the overall situation and prospects of the Cold Chain in Burkina Faso.   • Cryogenics (Prague, Czech Republic)


The IIR Cryogenics Conference 2019 took place in Prague (Czech Republic) on April 7-10, 2019. 89 papers were presented, covering various fields: cryomedecine, energy, industry, science applications… 127 people attended. The next Cryogenics Conference will take place in Dresden (Germany) on May 2-6, 2021.


  • China Refrigeration (Shanghai, China)
From April 9-11, Shanghai welcomed one of the largest exhibitions in the world for refrigeration, air conditioning, heating and ventilation, frozen food processing, packaging and storage; China Refrigeration 2019.

With an extensive number of exhibitions demonstrating the latest technological developments in the industry, China Refrigeration provided the ideal forum for companies to launch new products and for professionals to set up new business connections.

At the event, the IIR took the opportunity to promote its international activities including EU projects CryoHub and Real Alternatives 4 LIFE, its upcoming scientific conferences and events, and its latest collaborative publications.

Save the date: The next China Refrigeration event will take place on April 8-10, 2020 in Wuhan, China.


  • IIR Conference on Ammonia and CO2 Refrigeration Technologies (Ohrid, North Macedonia)


On April 11-13 2019, the 8th IIR Conference on Ammonia and CO2 Refrigeration Technologies took place in Ohrid (North Macedonia). The event was very successful, attended by 180 participants from 33 countries worldwide; 51 scientific and technical papers were presented including five keynote lectures.   • EPEE (Brussels, Belgium)


The European Partnership Energy and Environment (EPEE) organised a seminar (“F-gas roundtable”) in Brussels (Belgium) on April 15, 2019 to discuss the application of the F-gas regulation, its successes and challenges (illegal trade…). The IIR Director General presented the challenges for Europe within the framework of the Kigali amendments to the Montreal protocol.


  • AFF meeting (Arc-et-Senans, France)


The General Assembly of the French Association of Refrigeration (AFF) took place on April 16-17 in Arc-et-Senans, where the exhibition “Froid” (Refrigeration) moved after its inauguration in Paris (December 2017-September 2018), and before moving again to South Korea. The role of the IIR in that exhibition was emphasised. The reinforced relations between the IIR and the AFF were presented (presence in regional meetings in Paris and Boulogne-sur-Mer, implementation of a new membership category, IIR congresses and conferences…).
