The thriving air-conditioning thermostat market

The AC thermostat market to grow by 50% by 2017.
According to the latest IMS Research report on the thermostat market, global shipments of thermostats used for air-conditioning (AC) applications will rise by nearly 50% from 2012 to 2017.
AC thermostat shipments are set to grow to 19.0 million units in 2017, a 48% rise from 12.8 million in 2012.

The Asian market is predicted to be particularly energetic, forecast to rise at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 13% from 2012 to 2017, as compared to a predicted CAGR of 8% for the global market as a whole.
In 2012, Asia already accounted for over 30% of the AC thermostats sold worldwide. However, the collective Europe-Middle-East-Africa (EMEA) markets and the Americas are also forecast to see strong growth, albeit at a lesser degree.
