UK: record sales of heat pumps in 2024

A little under 100,000 heat pumps were sold in the UK in 2024, a record in sales supported by a growing number of trained installers.

According to UK’s Heat Pump Association (HPA), 98,468 heat pumps were sold in the UK in 2024, representing a 63% increase from the previous year.

This data includes factory gate sales of air-to-water monobloc units, air-to-water split units, ground and water source units, and “other” heatpumps – which includes domestic hot water heat pumps, exhaust air heat pumps and integrated hybrid heat pumps.

This growth in sales was accompanied by a 15% increase in the number of individuals who successfully completed a recognised heat pump qualification.

Although these figures are promising, heat pump deployment must scale even further to reach the levels needed to meet the UK’s carbon reduction targets.

Disclaimer:  Data from the HPA does not include air to air heat pumps and therefore makes it incomparable to many EU data sources.
