UK refrigeration sector figures
According to a paper produced by London South Bank University, the refrigeration sector represents 19.1% of the total UK electricity consumption
An article produced by London South Bank University detailed some interesting figures on the UK refrigeration sector (including refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pumps systems).
Based on the 2010 Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC) annual reports of GHG emissions, it was estimated the UK direct emissions (refrigerant leakage) and indirect emissions (to operate refrigeration systems) of the refrigeration sector are respectively 10.9 and 31.1 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent.
This compared to the total UK GHG emissions represent 7.1%.
Also the refrigeration sector represents 19.1% of the total UK electricity consumption.
