AHRI provides monthly data on heating and cooling equipment shipped by US manufacturers in the US market. The data provided covers the two months prior to the month of release. Therefore, data for January 2025 was released in March 2025.
The Air-Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) provides monthly data on the volume of heating and cooling equipment shipped by US manufacturers into the US market. Their latest shipment data report covered the month of January 2025, with year-to-date comparisons with January 2024.
According to AHRI, US shipments of central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps totalled 622,901 units in January 2025, up 29.9% from the 479,374 units shipped in January 2024.
The AHRI statistics team defines a shipment as when a unit transfers ownership; a consignment is not a transfer of ownership. Industry data is aggregated from the information supplied by AHRI member companies that participate in the statistics program and can be subject to revision. AHRI’s 300+ member companies account for more than 90% of the residential and commercial air conditioning, space heating, water heating, and commercial refrigeration equipment manufactured and sold in North America.
