Job Summary
- The Brand Designer will not only shape the visual identity of the IIR across all mediums, but also help to create the brand concepts and visual strategy for our activities including conferences and events.
- You will ensure consistency in the brand identity of our institutional communications and produce a variety of materials to accurately portray our messages to all audiences.
- This role is essential to ensure the consistency of our visual identity and strengthen our brand at an international level. Within the communications and marketing department, our goal is to amplify the activities and messages of the institution and its activities at an international level, meaning you will be working with all the teams at the IIR’s Head Office.
- Your work will include producing and updating brand guidelines, event materials (flyers, stand designs...), brochures, annual reports, digital content for communication and marketing campaigns (social media, web adaptation, mailing campaigns, newsletters), goodies, infographics, as well as onboarding internal team members and external providers onto the new IIR visual identity.

Key Responsibilities:
Graphic Design
- Produce high quality graphic design across a range of formats, including but not limited to:
- Print materials (posters, stand designs, goodies, roll-up banners, greetings cards, business cards, reports, brochures, flyers...)
- Digital materials (presentations, social media, website, mailing campaigns, infographics, reports...)
- You will also be responsible for optimising the design of marketing and communication materials to enhance engagement, conversion and brand notoriety.
Visual Identity Development
- The IIR is launching a new visual identity in the coming months, your role will be to help us further develop and grow the new brand into a leading, recognisable voice in our sector.
- Your role will also be to ensure that our visual designs not only respect accessibility standards, but also take into account the multilingual and cross-cultural design considerations required by an intergovernmental organisation.
Brand Conception and Strategy
- Ability to develop our brand architecture across all our activities.
- You will develop brand concepts, identities and strategies for our series of IIR-owned scientific conferences. The goal is to make each conference recognisable with its own identity linked to the IIR, and true to the scientific nature of the conference (many are historic events).
- Create guidelines and resources for conference organisers to adopt the new brands and work on the consistency of visual identity for each event.
Brand Consistency
- Co-develop the brand guidelines with our communications officer to ensure accurate and consistent design for our brand across all materials.
- Assist in onboarding all staff and external providers with our brand guidelines through brand workshops.
- Instil a culture of design rationale and feedback cycles.
- Assist in rolling out our new brand at scale.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s/Master’s in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Visual Communication.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in graphic and brand design either in-house or in an agency.
- Used to working with multi-level institutional brand structures.
- Experience in expressing institutional and scientific topics into graphic concepts is an advantage.
- Experience designing for multilingual audiences.
Skills
- Excellent working proficiency in French or English.
- Proven ability to translate institutional messaging into eye-catching and creative brand concepts.
- Strong attention to detail, consistency, and accuracy.
- Fluent in digital design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Suite, Canva, Figma, CMS – experience with CKEditor is a plus).
- Motion design, photoshop and video editing is a plus.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards.
Personal Attributes
- Organised, flexible, detail-oriented and creative.
- Able to explain design concepts to non-designers.
- Used to monitoring and ensuring the smooth running of the whole design process from conception and establishing briefs to delivering final materials and liaising with external suppliers for production.
- Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to manage feedback and iterate.
- Attentive to the latest design trends and best practices for institutional branding.
- Proactive communicator, comfortable working in an international environment.
- Interest in sustainability, climate action, or cooling technologies appreciated.
Working location + salary expectations
- 3 days per week in our Paris office with occasional remote working.
- Annual salary – 20K€. (2-year fixed-term contract)
