Job summary:
The IIR is involved in diverse projects supporting academia (e.g. EU and international funded projects) and countries (e.g. development projects) at both communication and technical expertise levels. The person employed in this position will reinforce the IIR project department through supporting all communication activities related to the current projects and ensuring that the technical contribution to projects is delivered to a high quality. In addition, the employee will develop and secure new projects for the IIR and ensure that they are delivered on time and with excellent quality.
The employee will work with an enthusiastic and dynamic team. The employee will report to Dr. Ina Colombo, the current deputy Director General.
Job description:
- Manage and oversee the current IIR EU projects by ensuring efficient and excellent communication of the project outcomes. The projects include:
- ENOUGH: Performing all tasks within the “Communication and dissemination” Work Package. Liaising with the different project partners to collect information and the relevant IIR departments to communicate the information.
- SophiA: Gathering and drafting articles to be published in technical and academic journals.
- Supporting the delivery of the IIR communication and technical work packages for BETTED and AgriCool, the newly funded EU project in Africa:
In addition, the person will:
- Contribute to writing proposals and tenders to various funding bodies. Secure the IIR leadership of technical and/or communications work packages.
- Lead technical work packages within the IIR projects.
- Lead the WP1 “Baseline (1990) current (2019) and future (2030 and 2050) carbon emissions” of the ENOUGH project.
- Support the IIR Scientific and Technical department with quality checks and verification of the information.
- Coordinate the actions of IIR experts when technical assistance to countries is required.
Qualifications:
Mandatory:
- Advanced university degree in engineering or physical sciences.
- Scientific and technical knowledge in refrigeration.
- Excellent writing skills and experience with drafting reports.
- Fluency in English (both written and spoken).
- A collaborative approach to work with colleagues achieve the organisational goals.
- Excellent knowledge of IT tools (MS Teams, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, MS Word, Outlook)
Preferred
- Scientific writing skills.
- Leadership and ability to manage and moderate seminars/workshops/meetings.
- Fluency in French is preferred. If not the employee shall make a commitment to begin learning French within 6 months of the contract starting and commitment to demonstrate a continuous improvement in the language skills over the job period.The IIR will pay (reasonable) language courses fees. Speaking and writing other languages is advantageous.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
Miscellaneous
- Place of work: The IIR head office: Paris, 177 boulevard Malesherbes.
- Contract details: 3 years fixed-term contract with a 6-month probationary period.
- Working time: 37.5h/week, paid leave, remote working is possible one day per week.

EU projects may require the necessity to travel in Europe and abroad for projects meetings.
