43.7 million of these (i.e. 39.1% of the global market in volume and 29.1% in value) were sold in China, where an overwhelming majority of these systems (92.5%) were standard split units.
The US market represents 13.2% of the global market in volume and 14.7% in value and totals 17 million units, 45.8% of which are window units, 34% are US ducted splits, 7.9% unitary and 6.1% portable units.
Europe totals 9 million units, of which 74.1% were standard splits and 16.4% were airside units. Unducted standard split units are the most sold worldwide (69.4% in terms of volume and 54.9% in terms of value), followed by window units (13.1% in volume), US ducted splits (5.6% in volume) and fan coils (5.1% in volume).
