World's biggest store

The so-called world’s biggest cold store – 60-m long, 140-m wide and 36-m high – was installed in Catalonia, Spain, by Aislamientos Aiconsa. It will be used for the production of deep-frozen vegetables and prepared meals for the region. The project provided the opportunity to build the first Spanish production plant using high-tech sandwich panels technology: HFC blown polyurethane insulating sandwich panels 200 mm thick and 15 m long are used, and the polyurethane insulation is bonded to the sheet metal. All connections incorporate a polyurethane joint to prevent thermal bridges and to cater for material expansion.
