Résumé

Two storage systems (horizontal and vertical) were used for 6 rows of 7 crates of apples. The effect of storage system on air flow, and temperature of the air and apples was simulated, using computational fluid dynamics. Ventilation was better in the vertical system, while the cooling process was also faster with less variation in air temperature between crates. The temperature of apples stored in the vertical system was also lower.
