Nouveau générateur de glace à récupérateur.

A novel recuperative ice generator.

Résumé

A system which is capable of producing a range of ice forms economically and reliably is described. There are no moving parts and the evaporator head may be fitted to existing condensing packs and designed to cover a wide range of ice production rates. The evaporator head consists of single or multiple Siamese pairs of heat exchanger tubes connected together by a bi-directional expansion valve and fed with liquid refrigerant via a four-way reversing valve. During operation, one of the heat exchanger tubes acts as an evaporator and produces chilled water, liquid ice or tube ice, whilst the other heat exchanger tube acts as a refrigerant subcooler and liquid-side defroster. The direction of refrigerant flow through the subcooler-evaporator pair is reversed periodically. The period depends upon the desired product.
