Summary
Crisp, juicy and tasty apples were sold over the latest 2006-2007 storage season. It was possible to maintain their taste characteristics until the end of the storage season thanks to the SmartFresh application (1-MCP). This year, the maturation of fruit was 10-14 days earlier than in 2006; consequently earlier harvests are to be planned. For SmartFresh processing, it is important to harvest fruit at the optimal ripeness stage and to apply the process only to fruit whose taste is fully developed.
