3rd IIR Conference on cold applications in life sciences - cryotherapy and cryopreservation.

Date: 2018.09.12 / 2018.09.14

Location: Saint Petersburg, Russia

Summary

These proceedings contain 13 full papers made for this IIR workshop held in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Freezing and cryoprocessing are getting more and more important as an essential production step in life sciences. Investigations are carried out to find novel approaches of the low temperature physics and cryogenics for the field of the life sciences. The understanding of the freezing behaviour and the cold-induced biophysical effects are a key issue in R&D. Another challenge is to find out how the effects of low temperatures can be used in industry for product improvements. The 3rd IIR Workshop provides an interdisciplinary scientific platform for a dialog and exchange of experiences between R&D-institutes and industry. The papers deal with: cell/tissue cryopreservation and storage challenges; freezing and storage of active agents for in-vitro and in-vivo applications.
