Summary

This paper reports an investigation on the application of ionic liquids as absorbents for ammonia based working fluid mixtures. Using complete thermophysical property data set from our group, the absorption cycle performance using two ionic liquids containing hydroxyl group is analysed and evaluated. Moreover, absorption behaviour and mass diffusivity of ammonia into ionic liquids is reported. This investigation is essential in order to identify the absorption performance and process behaviour of refrigerant in absorbent before heading to the detailed study on heat and mass transfer performance of these working pairs.
