Type of article: Article

Summary

COMPARES THE MEASURED HEAT LOSSES FROM THE FLOOR OF A SMALL HOUSE WITH ANALYTICAL EXPRESSIONS DEVELOPED PREVIOUSLY. ALSO DEVELOPS A NEW ANALYTICAL EXPRESSION FOR THE TIME-DEPENDENT HEAT LOSS FROM THE CENTRAL REGION OF THE FLOOR, OF ARBITRARY SIZE, AND COMPARES WITH MEASURED RESULTS. FINALLY, USES THE THEORY TO CALCULATE TEMPERATURES UNDER THE INSULATION AND AT 1 M DEPTH. COMPARES THESE VALUES WITH THE CORRESPONDING MEASURED VALUES TAKEN NEAR THE CENTRE OF THE HOUSE. FINDS GOOD AGREEMENT BETWEEN THEORY AND EXPERIMENT.
