A continuous heat regenerative adsorption refrigerator using spiral plate heat exchanger as adsorbers.

Summary

In adsorption systems, the design of the adsorber is critical. Spiral plate heat exchangers have been proposed by the authors, and a prototype heat regenerative adsorption refrigerator using activated carbon-methanol pair has been developed and tested. The adsorption system is based upon a thermal wave cycle. The experimental results show that the cycle time could be reduced to half an hour due to good heat transfer from the spiral plate heat exchanger, meanwhile it seems that the thermal wave cycle might be a pitfall to develop high efficiency adsorption systems.
