Summary

WARM FREE JETS FLOWING HORIZONTALLY FROM A ROUND NOZZLE AND CIRCULAR WARM FREE JETS FLOWING VERTICALLY DOWNWARD WERE EXAMINED IN RESPECT TO THEIR TEMPERATURE AND VELOCITY RANGES. BUOYANCY AND INERTIA AS WELL AS TURBULENT TRANSPORT PROCESSES AFFECT THE BEHAVIOUR OF FREE JETS IN A DIFFERENT MANNER. SIMPLE EQUATIONS, WHICH REFER TO KNOWN RELATIONSHIPS WERE DERIVED FROM THE TEST DATA AND USED TO CALCULATE THE FREE JETS THAT WERE LOOKED AT. THE STATED AREAS OF VALIDITY FOR THESE EQUATIONS SHOULD BE NOTED, ESPECIALLY WHEN TRANSLATING RESEARCH MODELS INTO ORIGINAL DESIGNS.
