IN ORDER TO STUDY THE PERFORMANCE OF COMPLETE AIR-TO-AIR HEAT EXCHANGERS USING BANKS OF HEAT PIPES, THE AUTHOR DEVELOPED A MATHEMATICAL MODEL AND COMPUTER PROGRAM. THE RESULTS PRODUCED A COMPARATIVELY SIMPLE FORMULA FOR A GIVEN TYPE OF HEAT PIPE IN WHICH THE MAIN VARIABLE IS THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE CROSS-SECTIONAL AREA OCCUPIED BY HEAT PIPES AS A FRACTION OF THE AREA OF THE FIN BLOCK.
