Summary

THROUGHOUT THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE FACTORY, THE GLOBAL REQUIREMENTS HAVE CONSIDERABLY INCREASED, AS MUCH IN THE NEED FOR ICED WATER AS FOR HOT WATER. MOREOVER, THE CURVE OF VARIATIONS IN THESE REQUIREMENTS, AGAINST TIME, SHOWS MINIMA WHOSE MAGNITUDE IS SEVERAL TIMES THE CAPACITY OF THE PLANT DESCRIBED. THUS, THE LATTER CAN ALWAYS OPERATE AT A MAXIMUM CAPACITY. THESE OPERATING CONDITIONS ARE VERY SATISFYING FOR A HEAT PUMP. THE PLANT DESCRIBED MAKES POSSIBLE THE HEATING OF 230 M3/H OF WATER, FROM 351 TO 358 K (78 TO 85 DEG C) AND THE COOLING OF 250 M3/H OF WATER FROM 282 TO 278 K (9 TO 5 DEG C). THIS SIMULTANEOUS PRODUCTION OF 1,880 KILOWATTS IN HOT WATER AND OF 1,770 KILOWATTS IN COLD WATER IS MADE POSSIBLE BY USING 2 ENGINES OF A NOMINAL CAPACITY OF 400 KILOWATTS, CONSUMING, AT FULL LOAD, A TOTAL OF ABOUT 700 KILOWATTS (GLOBAL COP = 4.29).
