Summary
A team composed of Spanish, Italian and Swedish scientists, supported by three members of the industry, was able to design a highly-efficient prototype for a reversible propane heat pump. The propane system turns out to be more efficient than the equivalent R22 system, while containing only 3.5 kg of refrigerant for an average capacity of 20 kW, i.e. only 40% of the R22 charge!
