A MODIFIED MAXWELL-EUCKEN EQUATION FOR CALCULATING THE THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY OF TWO-COMPONENT SOLUTIONS OR MIXTURES.

Author(s) : LEVY F. L.

Type of article: Article, IJR article

Summary

THE MAXWELL-EUCKEN EQUATION IS ANOMALOUS BECAUSE THE ALTERNATIVE FORMS OF THE EQUATION YIELD DIFFERENT NUMERICAL RESULTS FOR THE THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY OF A TWO COMPONENT MIXTURE OR SOLUTION. THE AUTHOR HAS MODIFIED IT BY INTRODUCING AN ADDITIONAL PARAMETER WHICH IS A FUNCTION OF THE RATIO OF THE THERMAL CONDUCTIVITIES OF THE COMPONENTS AND OVERCOMES THIS ANOMALY.
