A new design of solar absorption refrigerator with collector-reflector combination of fixed type.

Author(s) : QUAN N.

Summary

A new design of solar absorption refrigerator has been investigated using a flat-plate collector-reflector combination of fixed type. Solar radiation is absorbed by water circulated naturally in the collector and transferred to ammonia-water solution in a generator of shell and tube type. The research has shown a reasonable dimension of 1.7 to 3 (to get 32 to 38% of direct radiation more). A flat-plate collector of 2 m2 with a mirror of the same area has been tested and some initial results are optimistic. The model is simpler and safer for installing and operating in rural areas. It might be a first step to commercialize solar absorption refrigerator in the developing countries.
