Summary
It is shown that a low-capacity dry absorption refrigerating plant with no moving parts is possible. In spite of heat losses through the constant cooling and heating of the plant parts, the proportion of useful cold to all solar energy was 0.045 to 0.082, while refrigerating efficiency over 24 hours was about 15 watts. The effect of condensor surface area, collector surface area and environmental heat on this proportion was studied with a simulation program. With greater condensor surface areas, proportions from 0.1 to 0.115 were obtained. Variations of the collector surface area revealed an optimum of 2 m2 for the plant being researched. The effect of the environmental temperature could not be determined.
