THIS PAPER SHOWS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF AN ACCURATE TEMPERATURE CONTROL, NOT ONLY FOR ENERGY CONSUMPTION, BUT ALSO FOR THERMAL COMFORT. THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE IDEAL THERMOSTAT ARE GIVEN. A TYPICAL COMMERCIAL THERMOSTAT AND A NEW COMFOSTAT ARE COMPARED. SOME PRACTICAL MEASUREMENTS OF THERMAL COMFORT AND ENERGY CONSUMPTION ARE PRESENTED FOR A HOUSE WHERE HEATING WAS CONTROLLED ALTERNATELY BY A CONVENTIONAL THERMOSTAT AND THE NEW COMFOSTAT.
