Summary

This study developed a wood fiber-based shaped phase change material (PCM) for improving the thermal performance of building envelopes. Lauryl alcohol–stearic acid (LASA) was encapsulated into acetylated wood fiber by vacuum adsorption, while hexagonal boron nitride was introduced to enhance thermal conductivity. The composite was characterized by SEM, DSC, FT-IR and TG analyses, and its thermal regulation performance was evaluated through heating–cooling experiments. Results showed that AWF/ LASA/h-BN exhibited good structural stability, chemical compatibility and thermal reliability, with a
leakage rate of only 1.66% within 0–100 °C and stable latent heat after 400 cycles. Compared with acetylated wood fiber, the composite reduced the peak temperature by 3.09 °C and delayed the peak time by 7.78 min, demonstrating its potential for passive thermal regulation in building envelopes.
