A performance evaluation of the HVAC-based nozzles.

Summary

An investigation of the modelling of the JETs (Jet Environmental Techniques, UK) existing nozzle and its performance is compared with De Laval's nozzle in the near flow field; when the turbulent jet from the nozzle interacted with the surrounding still ambient fluid under identical inlet and contraction section of the nozzle geometry. The flow is modelled by means of RNG kappa-epsilon turbulence model under steady state conditions. Prototype experiments were carried out with JETs existing nozzle geometry in a test room was validated numerically. Examination of the turbulence kinetic energy, the entrainment ratio and the temperature profiles in the numerical space revealed that diffusion was enhanced between the jet flows and the still ambient fluid is noticed for the JETs nozzle geometry.
