A PROCEDURE FOR PRODUCTION OF PHYSICAL PROPERTY DATA TO DEVELOP NEW REFRIGERANTS.

Author(s) : HORVATH A. L.

Summary

WITH ONLY THE MEASURED NORMAL BOILING POINT AND STRUCTURAL INFORMATION AVAILABLE, THE AUTHORS ESTIMATE THE CRITICAL PROPERTIES USING THE AMBROSE GROUP CONTRIBUTION METHOD AND THE IDEAL GAS HEAT CAPACITY FROM THE BENSON GROUP CONTRIBUTION METHOD. THEY THEN ESTIMATE THE THERMODYNAMIC PROPERTIES USING A THREE-CONSTANT EQUATION OF STATE SUCH AS THE REDLICH-KWONG-SOAVE EQUATION. THEY REPORT MEASUREMENTS FOR CRITICAL PROPERTIES AND SATURATED VAPOUR PRESSURE BY AN AUTOMATED STATIC APPARATUS AND P-V-T DATA. THE LATTER ARE CORRELATED BY THE MARTIN-HOU EQUATION OF STATE. COMPOUNDS STUDIED INCLUDE: R134A, R125 AND R123.
