EFFECTIVE AIR DISTRIBUTION WAS A PRIMARY DESIGN CRITERION FOR THE ANIMAL HOLDING ROOMS OF A NEW RESEARCH ANIMAL FACILITY. A WORKING DEFINITION OF EFFECTIVENESS WAS DEVELOPED FOR THIS SITUATION AS WELL AS A QUANTITATIVE MEANS OF MEASUREMENT. SEVERAL DIFFERENT AIR DIFFUSER CONFIGURATIONS WERE EVALUATED ON THIS BASIS.
