A R-32 transcritical heat pump for high temperature industrial applications.

Summary
Previous exergy optimization studies have shown transcritical heat pumps (HPs) are especially adapted to recover low-grade heat for high temperature targets. A 30 kW transcritical HP using the R32 as working fluid has been developed in order to validate the high energy performance predicted by a thermodynamic model. In this paper, the performances of an optimized HP prototype targeting a drying plant where ambient air is already preheated from 20°C to 60°C is presented. The target temperature of the process is 120°C and the effluents are available at 50°C. The real COP observed of the HP is close to 3.7 with an exergy efficiency of 63%. De précédentes études d’optimisation exergétiques montrent que les pompes à chaleur (PAC) transcritiques sont particulièrement adaptées pour valoriser la chaleur à basse température et répondre à un besoin à haute température. Une PAC transcritique fonctionnant au R32 de 30 kW chaud a été conçue dans le but de valider sa haute performance énergétique. Les dimensions de la machine ont été calculés afin de répondre aux conditions opératoires typiques d’une usine de séchage où l’air ambiant est préchauffé à 60°C, la température cible à atteindre est 120°C et les effluents sont disponibles à 50°C. Le COP observé est proche de 3,7 et le rendement exergétique vaut 63 %.
