A segmented linear least-squares modeling procedure for nonlinear HVAC components.

Summary
This research led to the development of a segmented linear least-squares (SLLS) modeling procedure that can be easily programmed on a digital computer for deriving continuous single-output, single-output component models for HVAC equipment. This procedure was developed using actual HVAC performance data and can handle nonlinear operating ranges, saturation regions, and hysteresis. Transient and multi-input, multi-output models can also be developed by rationally combining the input and output variables.
