A SERIOUS PROBLEM IN PLANT: THE SUPERHEAT OF COMPRESSORS.

UN SERIEUX PROBLEME DANS LES INSTALLATIONS. LA SURCHAUFFE DES COMPRESSEURS.

Type of article: Article

Summary

IN THIS PAPER, A MANUFACTURER ASCRIBES THE BREAKDOWN OF COMPRESSORS ESSENTIALLY TO SUPERHEAT, LEADING TO A DEFECT OF LUBRICATION, RATHER THAN TO SLUGGING. THE TEMPERATURE LIMITS ALLOWED FOR OILS, THE USE OF R502 AT LOW TEMPERATURES AND OF R22 AT MEDIUM TEMPERATURES ARE DISCUSSED. FOR BOTH REFRIGERANTS, TABLES GIVE THE DESIRABLE SUCTION TEMPERATURES. THE PAPER CONCLUDES WITH A CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF DESUPERHEATING EXPANSION VALVES AND SUCTION GAS/LIQUID EXCHANGERS. L.R.
