A SIMPLE METHOD TO IMPROVE THE PERFORMANCE OF THE OPEN DISPLAY CABINETS THROUGH PREVENTION OF RADIANT HEAT AND ROOM AIR MOVEMENTS.

Author(s) : HOTANI S., MIHORI T.

Summary

MOST OF THE HEAT LOAD OF RETAIL CABINETS COMES FROM RADIANT HEAT AND AIR FLOWS DUE TO THE AIR CURTAIN. IN THE CASE OF A VERTICAL TYPE CABINET, SIDE AIR FLOWS GREATLY AFFECT THE EFFICIENCY OF THE AIR CURTAIN. THE AUTHORS PROPOSE A SIMPLE PROCEDURE IN ORDER TO COPE WITH THESE TWO DRAWBACKS. THEY SHOW THAT PROTECTIVE SIDE PANELS SAVE A PART OF THE ENERGY CONSUMED BY THESE RETAIL CABINETS.
