The flow characteristics analyses of refrigerated air curtains in multi-deck display cabinets.

Number: pap. ID: 367

Author(s) : CHEN Y. G., XIA D. H.

Summary

Numerical simulation was performed to study the flow characteristics of refrigerated air curtains in multi-deck display cabinets, and the air curtain flow and its subsequent evolution were analyzed in detail. The results show that the influences of the gravity are twofold. On the one hand, the air curtain flow deflects because it is subjected to the stack pressure; on the other hand, the air curtain accelerates until the length-width ratio equals about 6 under different conditions. The stream-wise peak velocity is about 1.3 times as large as the initial velocity of the refrigerated air curtain. The stream-wise velocity profiles present similarity when the length-width ratio position is ranged from 6 to 12. The effects of Grashof number and the Reynolds number were studied respectively. The numerical results were also validated with the experimental data.
