Summary

THERE IS OFTEN AN UNCOMFORTABLE FEELING IN A < SICK > BUILDING, EVEN IF THE QUALITY OF AMBIENT AIR MEETS CHEMICAL COMPOSITION AND VENTILATION STANDARDS. IT IS SUGGESTED TO USE MAN AND HIS SMELL AS A MEASURING INSTRUMENT. A UNIT IS DEFINED, THE < OLF >, AND ANY POLLUTING SOURCEOTHER THAN MAN, CAN BE MEASURED WITH THIS UNIT, SUCH AS THE KIND OF MATERIALS OF THE ROOM, THE VENTILATION SYSTEM AND TOBACCO SMOKE. HENCE ONE IS DIRECTED IN THE SEARCH FOR THE REDUCTION OF POLLUTING SOURCES. J.L.
