Summary

The effect of seasons and growing conditions on the quality and postharvest life of cut carnation flowers was examined by harvesting flowers in spring or summer from two turkish villages. There were considerable differences in chemical composition between the different flowers. The relationship of these differences to the vase life of STS-treated flowers, evaluated under standard conditions after dry or wet storage at 0 deg C for one week, is discussed.
