Summary

This paper provides a method for considering the influence of solar radiation on evaporators of heat pump systems by using the solar gain factor beta. An evaporator was studied and the results examined. Beta can be considered as a constant in a given heat pump system, and derived from experimental data. Beta should also be able to be determined by an equation enabling calculation of Rn and Rw, though some inaccuracy may arise because of the remarkable error in the calculation of heat transfer coefficients. The correction method may help not only to improve the accuracy of the heating performance simulation and the energy analysis of heat pump systems, but may also assist in the design of the system and installations.
