Summary

The suction valve is very important to develop a high efficiency compressor, because it directly affects the cooling capacity, reliability, and noise. The suction valve of the linear compressor is attached on the top of the moving piston, and opens when the piston moves down. The motion of the suction valve is very hard to simulate numerically, because of its characteristic of fluid structure interaction (FSI). It is bent by pressure difference and inertia force, and impacted with piston and discharge valve. FSI simulation program is developed in the study. Several designs of linear compressors are simulated and the results are compared with the experimental data.
