Summary

This review deals with the fundamental characteristics of both flow and heat transfer of ice slurry. The ice slurry, which is a mixture of fine ice particles and ethylene glycol aqueous binary solution, was utilized as a testing material. In this study, the experiments were carried out to explain both the heat transfer coefficient at the heated wall and the flow behaviour as well as rheological characteristics. In addition, a moving particle semi-implicit method was applied in order to simulate ice particle motion in the ice slurry. Furthermore, production behaviour of ice slurry using the interfacial instability phenomena of magnetic fluid was described as a new challenge.
