A VIEW OF BALANCED-PORT THERMOSTATIC VALVES.

Author(s) : BASTLE C.

Type of article: Article

Summary

ON LARGE THERMOSTATIC EXPANSION VALVES, THE PRESSURE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN INLET AND OUTLET MAY EXERT A CONSIDERABLE FORCE ON AN UNBALANCED VALVE. CHANGES DUE TO SUDDEN HEAD PRESSURE CHANGE, AS MIGHT OCCUR WITH CYCLING COMPRESSORS ON A COMMON CONDENSER, WILL CAUSE SUPERHEAT TO CHANGE DRAMATICALLY TO MAINTAIN EVAPORATOR FEED. SUCH OUTSIDE CONTROL FORCES ARE ELIMINATED BY A BALANCED-PORT VALVE. D.W.H.
