Absorption/compression heat pumps using methanol-TEGDME and trifluoroethanol-TEGDME.

Summary

The performance of the vapour compression cycle with solution circuit (single stage) and the cycle with a desorber/absorber heat exchanger (DAHX) was analysed for the trifluoroethanol (TFE)-tetraethylenglycol dimethylether (TEGDME) and the methanol-TEGDME working pairs. The single stage vapour compression cycle was found suitable for recovering thermal wastes between 60 and 90 deg C, and upgrading them up to temperatures of 170 deg C. The theoretical results showed that the performance achieved with methanol-TEGDME was slightly better than that obtained with TFE-TEGDME. In order to work at the same temperature conditions but with lower pressure ratios, the DAHX cycle had been considered. Results for both working pairs are given.
