Absorption cooling unit with cooling power of 10 kW heated by solar energy.

Author(s) : CURKA D., MOLOTTA M.

Summary

This article presents the possibility of using renewable sources of energy for cooling. It describes the absorption cooling unit with the working fluids lithium bromide and water with possibility of connection to the solar heating system. In the article are presented and discussed the results of measurements on small-scale experimental unit with a cooling output of 1 kW. The influence of different temperatures of driving fluid coming from solar system on cooling power is shown in this work. The results of the experiments are used as foundations for the construction of a new experimental unit with a cooling output of 10 kW. In the energy balance of this application with solar cycle, possible energy savings in comparison with compressor cooling systems are shown.
