ADJUSTING THE SPECIFICATIONS OF A FAN DRIVE ALREADY IN PLACE.

Author(s) : PIELKE R.

Type of article: Article

Summary

AFTER NOTING THAT ADJUSTMENTS BASED ON SIMPLE PROPORTIONAL CALCULATIONS ARE OFTEN INADEQUATE, THE AUTHOR PRESENTS 4 PRACTICAL EXAMPLES OF HOW TO MAKE CHANGES WHEN THE SPECIFICATIONS OF A FAN DRIVE PROVE TO BE MISTAKEN OR WHEN THE FAN IS TO BE USED FOR A DIFFERENT PURPOSE THAN ORIGINALLY PLANNED. AMONG THE ADJUSTMENTS MADE WERE: HIGHER CAPACITY, LOWER CAPACITY, HIGHER AIR-FLOW RATE, AND THE INSTALLATION OF A HEAT-RECOVERY PLANT WITH A HEAT EXCHANGER FOR BOTH THE OUTDOOR AND THE EXIT AIR. THE AUTHOR NOTES THAT IT IS SOMETIMES NOT JUST THE FAN ITSELF WHICH MUST BE CONSIDERED BUT THE ENTIRE PLANT. M. C.
